Maxime Livio who was leading throughout the Barroca d’Alva International 4*S class , was dramatically eliminated on Sunday afternoon having just won the class. At the tack inspection on leaving the showjumping arena after his winning round, his horse Vitorio Du Montet was found to be wearing a type of hind boot that is now illegal under FEI rules.

This FEI ruling was highlighted to all riders and a notice was on the information board following the elimination of a Chinese rider at the earlier event here last week for a breach of the boot rule. This left Spanish rider Francisco Gavino Gonzalez riding Source de la Faye the winner with Livio’s teammate Barbara Sayous riding Opposition Filmstar taking second place.
