A good start to the 2015 season for Joseph Murphy

The 2015 eventing season kicked off on Saturday 14th March over the revamped course at Kedrah Castle in Cahir Co. Tipperary. It was a slightly disappointing turnout with 110 entries, however as Ballinagore was running on the 15th there was bound to be an impact on numbers.

Leading after the dressage phase of the O/CNC** Joseph Murphy and DHI Top Story also returned back from the cross country phase with the only clear in the competition. 4 faults in the SJ phase left the combination with a final score of 31.3 which was sufficient to beat Steven Smith and Bonito (who recorded 5.2 time penalties cross country) into second place with a score of 34.8 penalties. Joseph Murphy clocked up third place with H L Mrs Imp on 41.5 penalties

In the O/CNC* Michael Ryan and Joseph Murphy were neck and neck after the dressage on 28.5 penalties, but 4 faults in the SJ phase proved expensive for Joseph Murphy and Killossery Athletic Touch leaving Michael Ryan and Kilpipe Jewel the honours. In third place was Romy Bolger who was the only cross country clear in the time allowed.

The top three combinations all returned within the time allowed in the cross country in the CNC* section, but 4 faults in the SJ proved expensive for Emily Corbett and Kanny Diamond who stood in the lead after the dressage. James O’Haire and Kilpatrick Treasure returned with faultless rounds from the cross country and SJ, and took the honours finishing on a dressage score of 25.5.
