Riders from all corners of the world will be competing at the Chatsworth International Horse Trials, sponsored by Delarki. The event is an annual favourite with competitors and spectators alike and this year takes place on May 17-19 in the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire’s spectacular parkland at Chatsworth House, Derbyshire.
The showpiece class, the CCI4*-S, will incorporate the British leg of the prestigious FEI Nations Cup, a series of eight team competitions held across Europe. It has attracted riders from Australia, China, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Japan, South Africa and the USA, some of whom will be trying for selection for the Olympic Games in Paris this summer.
Among the leading British riders in the class are the reigning world champion, Yasmin Ingham, riding DJ Rehy, and the reigning European champions, Rosalind Canter with Lordships Graffalo (plus Dassett Cooley Dun and MHS Just Seventeen), both of whom will be hoping to represent Great Britain as the team tries to defend the gold medal won in Tokyo in 2021.
Around 350 horses will be in action over the weekend; top British names with horses entered include Piggy March, William Fox-Pitt, Gemma Stevens and Zara Tindall.
There will be international dressage for the CCI4*-S and CCI2*-S classes on Friday, plus spectators can walk the cross-country courses, designed by former British Olympian Ian Stark and David Evans and shop in the high-quality trade stand village. Show jumping and cross-country action takes place on Saturday and Sunday.
‘We are very much looking forward to seeing competitors and spectators back at Chatsworth for what we hope will be a great weekend of entertainment for everybody,” said Horse Trials Director Patricia Clifton.
You will also see the stars of the future in the Dubarry Burghley Young Event Horse 4 and 5 year old classes.
There will be plenty of family entertainment including the Shetland Pony Grand National, Pony Club Mounted Games, falconry displays, dog agility and fun dog show and much more.
