Cathal Daniels certainly dominated the EI115 (Open) at the Tyrella (3) today, taking 1st, 2nd and 4th.
He took the lead on 28.6 after dressage with Michelle Nelson’s 8 year old gelding, OLS King Aragon. This combination were 10th at Le Lion D’Angiers (World Breeding Championships for Young Horses) last October, and were placed 2nd at the recent Clyda event at the end of March, however 4 faults in the show jumping meant finishing in 2nd, behind Jo Breheny’s LEB Lias Jewel, who also placed 2nd at Crecora (1) last week in the EI110. Cathal finished in 4th with the 8 y/o gelding, Galant DHI (owned by: Heidi & Ian Woodhead and Orla Dickson). Galant DHI was placed 8th at Le Lion d’Angers.
It was Sarah Ennis with Breda Kennedy’s Woodcourt Garrison, who blocked Cathal from taking the three top slots , by finishing on her dressage score of 34.1, to take 3rd.

Less than two penalties separated Nicola and Sarah Ennis in the EI115 section. Nicola with Dee Mac took first, winning, on 37.5 with Sarah and Shanbo Sky Fall just behind on 39.7. Dressage leader Alyssa O’Neill with Colacentric (winner of the 2018 ISH Eventing Series CNC1* 6 year old class at the Eventing Ireland National Championships at Kilguilkey ) placed third.
Ella Boyle took her second win of the season in the EI110 (Open)with her mother’s Grafenstolz Distinction, after finishing on her dressage score of 26.8. Sarah Ennis and the striking 7 year old dun gelding Tullabeg Tango had stormed into the lead in after dressage on 20.5, but 10.8 faults in the show jumping meant she had to settle for second. Steven Smith with the Ghareeb gelding, Ballyward, added just 0.8 of a time fault to his dressage score to finish in 3rdon 32.3.
Adam Haugh added just 0.8 of a time penalty to his dressage score, to win the EI110 -A with his 6 y/o gelding Van Thee Man (who took 3rd in the same section at Tyrella last week) while dressage leader Melanie Wrynn with Wolf Artic incurred 5.2 time penalties on the cross country, to finish in second. Adam Haugh also claimed the third slot with Ballybolger Lionman who finished on his dressage score.
In the E110 – B it was Ella Boyle with WKD Cooley who took the top slot, finishing on 26.5, just 0.6 penalties ahead of with Molly Evans and Wellan Graffiti. It was neck and neck for third place, with Michael Ryan and Claragh Mountain and Sarah Ennis and Grantstown Jackson, both finishing on identical dressage scores and cross country times.
