A win for Cathal Daniels and Sammy Davis Junior in the feature class, the Sema Lease CCI3* moved Cathal up to 17th position in the FEI Eventing World Rankings.

It was the show jumping phase that proved to be the decider. Cathal was sitting in second slot (just 1.2 penalties behind New Zealand’s Tim Price)  going into the final phase, but two fences down with Ascona proved expensive for Price, who dropped to third place with Ascona, but moved up to second place with Kincooley Cruising. Another New Zealand entry, Jesse Campbell with Cleveland took fourth.  Camphire 2016 CIC3* winner, James O’Haire with China Doll finished in fifth, to give Ireland a second  top 10 placing.

Only 0.2 penalties separated the top two in the Cahervillahow CIC3*. Dressage leader Padraig McCarthy with Mr Chunky, managed to maintain his narrow lead over Sarah Ennis and Horseware Stellor Rebound. Horseware Stellor Rebound was one of only two horses to complete the cross country within the time, the other being fourth placed James Avery with Optimus Prime, for New Zealand.  Ciaran Glynn and November Night finished in third, whilst Aidan Keogh took both fifth and sixth slots, with Master Tredstep and Pride of Tredstep.
