Caroline Harris and D.Day are the 2024 Pau champions. After rising 21 places to the top of the leaderboard after the testing cross country on Saturday, a clear round in Sunday’s showjumping sealed the win.
Last year’s champions, Ros Canter and Izilot DHI had to settle for second place (just 0.3 penalties behind the winners). Tom McEwan with the Irish bred Brookfield Quality took third.
Irish results
Ian Cassells with Millridge Atlantis were in 12th place after dressage, having the only sub-30 score for Ireland.
The cross country was extremely influential, as heavy rain on Friday resulted in very challenging ground conditions. The cross-country track was shortened to 5.2 kms and the number of obstacles was reduced to 34, as parts of the course were deemed unfit for safety.
Eight of the nine Irish horses completed the cross-country, with Ian Cassells again putting in an impressive performance with Fiona Leahy and Gerry Leahy’s Millridge Atlantis, to complete the section in thirteenth place.
Sunday’s showjumping saw Jenny Kuehnle with Sammy Davis Junior jump from 35th place to 27th after a super clear round. Ian Cassells and Millridge Atlantis has 12.8 penalties, which dropped them to 25th place.
Daragh Byrne with KILCANNON RAMIRO made their first five-star completion, finishing in 44th place.
