Eventing is back.

Crecora (1a)

It has been a long time, but at last eventing has returned to Ireland. Yesterday (4th July) 130 competitors headed to Ballycahane Equestrian Centre for Crecora (1a) hosted by the Furnell family. For the return to eventing following the Covid-19 lockdown, number of entries at each event have been restricted to a maximum of 150. In order to allow larger numbers to take part, Eventing Ireland have doubled up the events at each venue. Crecora (1b) was run on 5th July. Lisgarvan also hosted two events this weekend. Next weekend will have two days at Ballindenisk.

Masks cross country

Competitors were advised to wear face masks across country (so that they could be attended to after a fall). Although it was advised that masks could be worn under the chin, many riders wore a full face mask going cross country, proving that it is actually possible to breathe in a mask!

Social distancing was really well maintained by all, things may be very different now but everyone was delighted just to be competing again.
