Ireland score well at the FEI World Breeding Eventing Championships for Young Horses

WEG silver team medallist, Cathal Daniels continued his impressive year with two horses finishing within the top 10 in the 7-year-old final at the FEI World Breeding Eventing Championships for Young Horses at Le Lion D’Angers.

He finished in 8th position with Kieran Connors’ Galant DHI (bay gelding by Indoctro (HOLST) and out of Urona (KWPN), by Hold Up Premier (SF). Owners: Heidi & Ian Woodhead.) and also in 10th with OLS King Aragon (bay gelding by Samgemjee (ISH) and out of Just Beauty Queen (ISH), by Seamanship (TB).

Christine O’Donnell with SHANAGORE JENGA

Christine O’Donnell and Shanagore Jenga (chestnut mare by West Coast Cavalier (ISH) and out of Mission Belle (ISH), by Gone Fishin (TB). Bred and owned by Bob O Keeffe) finished in 13th.

Brian Morrison with Marie Symington’s Global Mentor (ISH) (bay gelding by Mermus R (KWPN) and out of Flora De Ribon (SF), by Tams Du Plessis (SF). Bred by Justin Burke Co Offaly.) came home in 16th.

Aoife Clark with her own Celus D’Ermac Z (gelding by Chico’s Boy (HOLST) and out of Valencia Odeveld (HOLST), by Corofino I (HOLST)) also finished in 18th place.

Winner was Germany’s Ingrid Klimke with Asha P, coming home ten seconds under the optimum time, whilst overnight leader Michael Jung with Choclat was eliminated after falling at fence 8, resulting in Jung breaking his arm.  Great Britain’s Tom Jackson took 2nd with the ISH Capels Hollow Drift(gelding by Shannondale Sarco St Ghyvan (BWP) out of Lucky Crest (ISH), by Lucky Gift (TB). Breeder: Jeanette Glynn), whilst French rider Astier Nicolas and Babylon De Gamma finished in 3rd.

Ireland also took a top 10 placing in the six-year-old final. Clare Abbott and Lisa Rosbotham ‘s Jewelent (grey gelding by Valent (KWPN) and out of Bellaney Jewel (TB) (IRE), by Roselier (TB) (FR). Bred by: J.W Rosbotham) finished on their dressage score to take 8th place.

The six year old winner was Great Britain’s Kitty King with Cristal Fontaine , just ahead of Piggy French (GBR) with another ISH Emerald Jonny (gelding by Waldo Van Dungen (KWPN) out of Z Royalty Van De Heernis (KWPN), by Rubels (OLD). Bred by Donnacha Quinn ) while in 3rd place was USA’s Elisabeth Halliday-Sharp with her own Richard Sheane sourced (ISH) Cooley Moonshine (gelding by Womanizer (KWPN) out of Kylemore Crystal (ISH), by Creggan Diamond (ID). Bred by Alan O’Brien)
