Ireland third in Nations Cup at Fontainebleu

Team Ireland had moved up three places after the Cross Country phase in the first of the 2016 Eventing Nations Cup season at Fontainebleau in France. They then held onto their overnight third place position after the final Show Jumping competition to finish on bronze.

In the show jumping phase, Cathal Daniels & Rioghan Rua and Claire Abott & Euro Prince completed clear, whilst Jonty Evans & Cooley Rorkes Drift and Austin O’Connor & Kilpatrick Knight returned with 4 faults, to hold the third slot.

Germany won the Gold and France Silver.

Clare Abbott & Euro Prince (ISH) – 2003 gelding by Lougheries Quiet Man (UNK) out of Miss Tullydraw (UNK).

Cathal Daniels & Rioghan Rua (ISH) – 2007 mare by Jack Of Diamonds (SWB) out of Highland Destiny (ISH), by Flagmount King (ID).

Jonty Evans & Cooley Rorkes Drift (ISH) – 2006 gelding by Courage II out of Doon-A-Ree-Lass (ISH), by Rachelle Comet (TB).

Austin O’Connor & Kilpatrick Knight (ISH)(TIH) – 2005 gelding by Master Imp (TB) out of Golden Choice (ISH), by Golden Trump (ID).
