Speaking after the selection the Chef d’Equipe Janet Murray said:

Lucky to be held at all in 2020 behind closed doors, this year the Mondial Du Lion welcomes back spectators to the WBFSH World Breeding Eventing Championships for Young Horses. Ongoing difficulties with overseas travel means just one of the selected horses has competed outside Ireland, LEB Empress who finished fifth last year in the 6-year-old Championship, but we have a good mix of seasoned Le Lion riders and first timers who are in for an eye opening experience amongst the world’s best. It is a little disappointing to travel without some high profile combinations but the current high demand for good horses is very welcome for owners and riders alike. It promises to be a great week of competition and I wish them all safe travels and lots of good luck!”
