Germany’s Michael Jung retained his Olympic title, winning the individual eventing gold medal on his London partner Sam . 16 year old Sam was not Jung’s first choice for the Rio Olympics, but is obviously still in brilliant form. He won Burghley last year and Badminton this year, and as now added a second Olympic gold title. The combination were one of the three that completed yesterday’s testing cross-country course without faults.
Ireland’s Jonty Evans with Cooley Rorkes Drift put up a great performance to finish ninth in the Individual placing at Rio. Having been in 16th position after the cross-country, his faultless show jumping moved him up on the leaderboard.
Mark Kyle and Jemilla had 8 faults in the show jumping and finished in 33rd position. Clare Abbott and Euro Prince produced a faultless round in the show jumping to finish in overall 37th,
