Project Pony (@projectponypp) is an initiative which aims to identify and support up and coming young athletes with a realistic ambition of riding at the top level and that would most benefit from the support that Project Pony can offer. The core aim of the project is to help the most deserving and talented riders by giving them the chance to ride elite eventing ponies that they would otherwise not be able to compete on. They also work with a wider group of pony riders by putting on training days with top class coaches and other events. In short, Project Pony is all about giving talent a chance in the sport of eventing.
The collaboration between Badminton Horse Trials and Project Pony will see Project Pony named as one of the cross country fence sponsors, as well as providing some unique experiences for the riders they support.
“It is an absolute privilege to join forces with Badminton and it will be amazing for the Project Pony riders to experience everything the event has to offer. We can’t thank Badminton enough for giving them this opportunity and us the platform to share our vision for supporting and promoting young talent in the sport of eventing.” commented Elizabeth Barratt of Project Pony.
Event Director Jane Tuckwell said “Project Pony is doing a fabulous job supporting talented young riders. Hopefully some of these individuals will go on to become future Team GBR riders when otherwise they might not have had the opportunity to reach the highest levels of the sport. We are looking forward to hosting them at Badminton 2023 and inspiring future generations.”
