You could have heard a pin drop. The final phase of the Longines CCI5*-L at Luhmühlen 2025 kept spectators on the edge of their seats right up to the last moment — and it was Ros Canter who rose to the occasion, delivering a flawless round with Izilot DHI to secure her second 5⭐ victory in just six weeks.
Entering the arena as the penultimate rider, Canter showed nerves of steel to complete a clear round inside the time, finishing on a score of 28.8. It marks another milestone in an extraordinary season for the reigning Badminton champion.
“I’m just so thrilled. He hasn’t been an easy character, but he’s come out with so much confidence. He’s such a genuine, unique horse… I’m so thrilled we’ve built a relationship to overcome that and show him off to his best,” said a visibly emotional Canter.
The time allowed on the final course proved decisive, but Canter had come prepared:
“Last year I lost my first place due to time faults… We changed a few things, and I was more relaxed today. I’m just delighted with that.”
In front of an electric Luhmühlen crowd, Canter was full of praise:
“Luhmühlen is one of my favourite events to come back to. A big thank you to the crowd for making it so special.”

🥈 Samantha Lissington (NZL), riding the “pocket rocket” Ricker Ridge Sooty GNZ, finished a brilliant second on 29.3 after a near-perfect week, adding just 0.4 time penalties on cross-country. The student of Canter said:
“The jumps do seem rather large when you sit on him, but he’s got a big stride and a heart of gold.”

🥉 Last year’s winner, Laura Collett (GBR), came heartbreakingly close to a repeat victory. With London 52, she led after cross-country but dropped a single rail at the final part of the treble to finish third on 29.4.
“Obviously I’m very disappointed… but that’s life. London 52 is my horse of a lifetime.”
