Shane Rose and Shanghai Joe pictured at the first horse inspection at the Mitsubishi Motors Badminton Horse Trials
Shanghai Joe , the 11 year old gelding ridden by Australian event rider Shane Rose had a fall at fence 19 (the PHEV Corral) on the Badminton course. He galloped back to the stable yard and fell when he slipped on the gravel. Shanghai Joe sustained a broken scapula that was not capable of repair, and sadly has had to be euthanised.
