The Irish Eventing team of Susie Berry (Clever Trick (ISH), Ian Cassells (Woodendfarm Jack OD (ISH), Camilla Speirs (BT Angelo (ISH) and Clare Abbott (DHI No Fear), have finished in seventh place overall in the FEI Eventing Nations Cup at Boekelo in The Netherlands.
Ireland, led by Horse Sport Ireland’s acting High Performance Director Dag Albert, were in sixth place after the opening Dressage phase and moved up to fifth after Saturday’s Cross Country. However, when Camilla Speirs’ BT Angelo (ISH), who had produced a foot perfect cross country round on Saturday, failed to make it through the final horse inspection. It was that which caused Ireland to drop down to seventh ahead of the final Show Jumping phase.
Ireland finished on a final score of 1070,4. Britain took victory on 95.7, with New Zealand second (101.9) and France third (110.1).
On the individual standings, Susie Berry with Clever Trick (ISH) recorded an impressive eighth place finish on a score of 32.6, while Clare Abbott with DHI No Fear also finished inside the top 20 in 16th place on a score of 37.8. New Zealand’s Tim Price and Happy Boy were crowned individual winners with a score of 25.6
Irish individual, Jennifer KUEHNLE with Polly Blue Eyes was the winner of the best newcomer.
The other Irish individual entry was Sarah Ennis with Grantstown Jackson, who produced a fast clear cross country, followed by a clear in the show jumping, to finish in 21st place.
