Top riders heading to Pau for the final 5* of 2023

Competition will be strong at Pau as the world’s top four eventing riders are heading to the  final 5* of 2023. Pau is one of only seven 5* competitions in the world.
Oliver Townend (GBR), Ros Canter (GBR), Boyd Martin (USA) and Tim Price (NZL), are respectively 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th in the FEI world rankings. Last year’s winner
Jonelle Price riding Grappa Nera, will be taking on this year;’s competition with Hairdo and McClaren.

Ireland will have six entries:

Daragh Byrne with Kilcannon Ramiro will be taking on their first 5*. The combination recently placed 4th in the CCI4*L at Ballindenisk, and were the winners of the same class the previous year.

Ian Cassells with Master Point. This combination , who recently completed the tough Blenheim CCI4*L  (finishing in 27th) , will be making their first 5* appearance.

Sian Coleman with Hush A Bye Baby, who recently won the CCI4*L at Ballindenisk International.

Olympian, Sarah Ennis with Grantstown Jackson. This combination placed 14th at the European Championship at Le Pin Au Haras, and was 3rd in the CCI4*S at the recent Ballindenisk International.

Olympian, Joseph Murphy with Barrichello. This will be the first run for Joseph after the injury that he received at Ballindenisk International. The combination have had two wins in Ireland since June.

Felicity Ward with Regal Bounty will take on their second CCI5* of the year, having completed Luhmuhlen in June, finishing in 15th place.
