Whelan takes top slot in Kilguilkey Connollys Red Mills SuperLeague 2*

Preparations started early again for the another event in Kilguilkey’s busy calendar.  After last weeks successful International, it was on to Kilguilkey’s second national of 2018.  The continuing heatwave meant that watering the course commenced at 4am on Sunday morning, to ensure that the track was prepared.

Connollys Red Mills SuperLeague A/CNC2*

Patrick Whelan with Footfall scored the best dressage test of 33.1 which left him in pole position even after one down in the show jumping.  James O’Haire took 2nd and 3rd with  China Doll and Nancy Belle, both completing  on their dressage scores.

CNC2*Robbie Kearns with Ballingowan Euphoria finished on their dressage score to take  the winner’s slot in the CNC2* whilst Patrick Whelan took 2nd and 3rd with Denis Finch Hatton and The Irish Factor.

O/CNC1* Cathal Daniels with Feagh Delamain – the only combination in this section to finish on their dressage score.

Patrick Whelan and Killossery Karisma took 2nd with Felicity Ward and Regal Bounty in 3rd. This was Felicity’s first venture back to competition after her accident earlier this year.

Congratulations are also in order to Cathal who has just been selected to represent Ireland at the World Equestrian Games in Tryon, USA this September, with Margaret Kinsella’s Rioghan Rua

CNC1*David Richard with Cancun Breeze led from the start to finish on their dressage score of 29.5, just ahead of Nicola Ennis in 2nd with Killossery Kappuchino, on 29.8 , and Cathal Daniels in 3rd with Galant DHI 30.5.

CNCJ1*Megan Telford-Kelly  with Mr Chocolate completed this section on their dressage score of 27.8, to win. Sadhbh Bolger and Cooley Cappuccino finished in 2nd on 34.5 and Molly O’Neill with Clearistown Flavia in 3rd on 35.

Dairygold EI100 – AMichael and Patricia Ryan won both sections of the EI100, with Mike  and Gurtera Jimmy Clover winning the A Section ,and Patricia with Grantstown Coney Street winning the B Section
